The Show

Inspired by the popular reality show showcasing the dance talents of America’s best performers, So You Think You Can Dance — Milledgeville gives local dancers the opportunity to display their various dance styles through a dynamic competition on the local level.

The contest is A.A.C.’s largest community production to date and offers a $500 cash prize to the winner. The competition also serves as a fundraiser to support future community arts events.

The Performers

So You Think You Can Dance — Milledgeville encourages performers of all dance backgrounds to participate in the competition from ages 9 to 25.  Judged by community dancers and influencers, the dance styles range from jazz, hip-hop, contemporary and lyrical to ballet, musical theatre and gymnastics. However, all forms of dance are welcomed in the show.

Every dancer who makes the show selects a charity to support. The dancer who raises the most money for their charity receives the “People’s Choice Award,” a certificate of achievement that acknowledges efforts to give back to the Milledgeville community.                                              

The Impact

The local competition is part of A.A.C.’s award-winning contributions to its surrounding communities. The contest also serves as a platform for youth to showcase their talents in their community.
